Kirkby Designs Infinite Abyss
4D DRAPERY is a collection of wide-width fabrics that bring a new dimension to textured designs, transforming them into lightweight materials. Utilising sustainable linens, recycled cottons, and organic jute, these fabrics feature a tumbled appearance and relaxed character, embodying a fourth dimension of depth and texture. The collection emphasises intricate surfaces, with subtle, nature-inspired patterns and diverse interpretations of stripes, all with a contemporary aesthetic. Every fabric in this collection is crafted from at least 75% recycled or sustainably sourced materials, aligning with the Kirkby commitment to innovative and create responsible design.
In a 4D space, objects and shapes can theoretically continue endlessly in all directions. The irregular surface and endless hill-like pattern creates a mesmerising optical illusion of dynamic, 4D motion on the fabric. INFINITE is woven with a recycled PET shrink yarn which when heated pulls together to create an organic texture. This textile is made with Oeko-Tex 100 certified linen and is also given an aero-finish which ensures the permanence of the 3D relief and textured surface.
Linen is considered to be a sustainable fibre as it is a natural product and the entire flax plant can be used when harvested, meaning there is almost no waste created during the spinning and weaving processes.
Flax plants are cultivated at close proximity, producing a high yield and storing large quantities of CO2 each year. Flax plants help improve soil quality which encourages biodiversity in the local ecosystem.
